BADGEM - UK-wide clinical network dedicated to genetic skin diseases
Genetic testing in the UK is currently in a state of flux. Supposedly from May 2020, all genetic testing will be paid for by NHS England. At the moment, it is paid for locally. The 2019/2020 National Genomic Test Directory specifies which genomic tests are commissioned by the NHS in England, the technology by which they are available, and the patients who will be eligible to access to a test. The 2019/2020 National Genomic Test Directory for rare and inherited disorders and cancer can be accessed below. A PPK or ichthyosis panel costs £900. Sometimes, if it is clear what the likely gene is eg diffuse PPK (epidermolytic) then it is much cheaper just to order KRT9 screening.
